Explanation of the incident on the 15th involving an external individual's attack in the toilet of General Building 4 and guidelines for student safety and reporting in similar incidents

Dear NTHU Students,

Recently, there have been incidents on campus involving individuals from outside the campus who exhibited abnormal behavior, harassing people and even showing signs of aggression. The Office of Student Affairs would like to provide an explanation regarding this incident and remind students of appropriate responses in such situations:

1. On February 15, 2025, at around 2:00 PM, an incident occurred in the women’s toilet of the  General Building 4, where an external individual was attacked by another external individual. The suspect was taken into custody by the police at approximately 5:30 PM on the same day. The suspect used tissue paper to strike the victim. The suspect is currently under police investigation.

2. If you encounter individuals displaying unusual behavior (such as vacant stares, signs of aggression, or talking to themselves), please distance yourself immediately and contact the Student Assistance Division by phone (Main Campus: 03-5711814 or 0910538152; Nanda Campus: 0911799474) or the Campus Security Team (03-5714769). You can also use the "iNTHU" app's SOS emergency contact and location function in the upper right corner to directly connect with campus security personnel on duty 24 hrs.

3. When moving around campus at night, please travel in groups. If you encounter someone exhibiting abnormal behavior, do not make eye contact out of curiosity or provoke them with words.

4. If an individual displays aggressive behavior, use nearby objects to protect yourself and escape as quickly as possible. Do not engage in a confrontation.

5. Campus safety is a collective responsibility. If you witness any incidents related to campus security, prioritize your safety first and report the situation immediately.

Wishing you all a safe and successful campus life.
The Office of Student Affairs cares about you.
